CAMP JOY, JOy, Joy, joy....down in my heart!

Well, it is finally here!  It is that time of year again - church camp time!  To be specific - Camp Joy time here in England.  It is ALWAYS a wonderful part of our summer any time we are privileged to participate in this special week. This year the theme for the week is     "KING OF CREATION - Jungle Adventure".
We left on Sunday afternoon just after our morning services at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Carlisle, and after a quick lunch from McDonald's and a LONG load-up of luggage into the car, all 10 of us (in two vans) were finally on the road!  After nearly 6 hours, we arrived at Brimpton Baptist Church.  Our kids were thrilled - to be out of the car AND to finally be at camp!!!
They even got to be some of the first campers to sleep in the tents! :)
Today was the first official day of camp and all seemed to go smoothly.  Since Andy and I hold the position of "chefs" for the week, preparing the meals is always a concern of ours - but having Kent and Andrea Gossmeyer helping in the kitchen as well, everything went quite smoothly.
The service was great this evening with Alan Campbell, from Northern Ireland, speaking to the kids again this year.  He accidentally called Blessing by the name of "Destiny" last year and even this year, that name has stuck with her:)  I believe the children listened to the sermon very well and everyone seems to have a great day.  I am praying for God to show up in a mighty way throughout this entire week.
One downside to this great time of fun and fellowship is poor little Thomas Reay.  Thomas came with us from our church, but his asthma has gotten the better of him this evening and Andy and Pastor Martin Wickens had to take him to an after hours clinic to receive treatment.  After missing the evening meal and the evening service, they returned back to the grounds and Thomas seemed to be feeling better.....for a little while.
Just before bed time, Thomas began to feel unwell once more and even though Andy administered every medication they had given him, Thomas was getting worse.  BACK TO THE AFTER HOURS CLINIC.
I got a phone call after a while to say that they were going to send Thomas to the hospital and keep him over night for observation.  Andy is staying with him just now and we are praying for him to be well enough to come back tomorrow and enjoy the rest of the week without any further incident.  We are gonna make Thomas take it EASY though for sure!!!  Poor Andy and Thomas - God knows and can definitely help Thomas to breathe easier.  We are just thankful we could take him some place to get the help he needs.  God is still good!!
Having said all of that....we are looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow.  This first day was still GREAT and I believe the kids are having a good time. It always seems that starting the second day - REAL CAMP ACTUALLY BEGINS!  Cannot wait to see what God has in store for us tomorrow.

   So much fun,
                   so much fellowship
                                           - with great friends!!
