World Cup Final

Wednesday, 31 July, 2013

The final day of Coaching 4 Christ is the World Cup match day!  The kids were so excited - the winners were going to be awarded a medal and a trophy for the top team!  We were all excited!
Once again, God halted the rain during our 2 hours on the pitch and the kids had a wonderful time playing each other in the bright sunshine.
One little boy, Jay, who comes with his Grandma to our church went out to play in the matches.  He was put on a team and the colored vest he was give to wear was much like a little dress on his 5 year old body.  Jay was determined though!
"We get a trophy and a medal if we play in the matches!" He told me.  There were times during the day that he even asked if he could be finished playing.  Andy told him he could quit playing but only the players would get medals at the end of the day.  Jay stayed in a played each match determined to win that medal!  It was so sweet to watch!
When all was said and done, the kids ALL received a medal, but Jay was on the winning team and
each member of that team received a trophy as well.  I know Jay must have told me at least 5 times to "look at my medal and my trophy!"  He was super excited.  It was worth it all to see his little face!
Once again, we had a good turn-out for the day.  All the kids were back from Tuesday as well as the little ones on the side-lines.  We were prepared though and I took our own little soccer goal and ball so the kids could feel involved without being in the way of the older ones who were playing on the pitch.  The little guys loved it!
All in all, I have to say that the Coaching 4 Christ ministry is a wonderful way to get the children involved in sport as well as give them a great Bible lesson each day. The kids sat and listened to the talk each day without complaint...but the parents listened as well!  It was so good to see the parents sit and really pay attention to all that was said.  Our prayer now is that the Lord will do a work in their hearts with all that they have heard and seen through the three days of football.  We have even had promises from the kids and parents that they plan to visit our services very soon.  We will continue to pray that God will move them in that direction.  This is what is was all about.  These three days have been wonderful for our church as well as the kids.  We have seen one soul saved, the community get to know more about Lighthouse Baptist Church of Carlisle, our church folks more involved and gotten to know some amazing men serving in Coaching 4 Christ.  God is good!  The week was great and although we are exhausted, we are so thankful we were allowed to have a part in it all!
